'Anything' Lyric analysis

Seeing as we changed our song choice, we decided to analyse this lyrics too. We have interpreted the song, it may not be correct but this is what we think. We think that the general basis of the song is about a boy who loves a girl and is trying to make their relationship work in many ways, whether that be a friendship or a romantic relationship.

By establishing the basic story line from the lyrics, we were then able to formulate an idea to match the lyrics to some extent. 

First Verse
It gets difficult to talk when you nearly deafen me cause you start laughing

Y’know I never wanna trouble you when you’re working so I always try to wait

• Here, it shows how the person is trying to make the relationship work. Even though he might not agree with everything that she is doing, he stands for it anyway because he wants to continue to love her.

If you’ve stopped discussing names with me

• This shows how he wants to please her, for example 'I won't smoke if you don't no more', suggesting that if she doesn't like something, he won't do it anymore. He also says how he might not want to have a child with her, but if it makes her happy talking about it, then he doesn't really mind.

• 'I always try to settle you' suggests how he always tries to be there for her. The lyrics also suggest how when he is away, she struggles to cope without him. It is almost as though he is trying to remind her what he does for her. Perhaps she takes him for granted.

• Here is seems as though he is trying to convince her that she can't live without him and that she needs him. He is trying to encourage her to call him if she needs anything, so perhaps they are growing apart and he isn't doing this.

• The final part where the song slows, portray his final thoughts. This is representing the fact that he will do anything for their relationship to work, to help her as much as he can.
