Editing- 18/10/16

Editing for our second draft- 18th October 2016

Today, Izzy and I decided to start work on our second draft edit for our music video. We have 3 weeks until the final deadline. Using the audience feedback from both our peers and teachers, we decided to make the appropriate ammendments to improve the music video further.

After collating our audience feedback, we decided that the pregnacy seen was too rushed into the end of the song, as well as the first half of the music video not being in chronological order, but the second half with the pregnancy was. This was inconsistant, so we had to make the decision to either put the first half into order or delete the pregnancy scene. After concidering our options, we decided to delete the pregnancy scene and reorder some of the footage. This way, having no chronology is fine because it is a consistant convention throughout the music video. Instead, we added some more shots from filming in Nottingham city centre which we hadn't yet included. We have also left some gaps in the footage in order to add a performance element. We plan to film our performance element on Thursday.
Here is some of the extra footage we used to fill the gaps.
Another thing we needed to edit out of the music video was one shot where our actors looked at me behind the camera, so this didn't look natural. This was in the baking scene and was luckily really easy to edit out.
Here, we edited the footage to make sure the actors didn't look directly at the camera.
Next, we left a gap for the performance element of the song, which we plan to layer over the top of some footage. After that, we decided to add more footage which hadn't yet been included. Izzy and I had to move our footage along whilst adding new footage, making sure that it still cut to the correct beat. We then realised that we need to refilm at a different location in order to obtain more footage which is appropriate for the music video as we want to include a happier narrative.
New footage added afterthe gap where we plan to add a narrative.
Finally, we added an individual shot of Rob on his own, before we plan to add new footage along with a performance element after we have filmed at a different location for a wider variety of footage.
Individual shot of Rob alone which is the last bit of footage we have for now.
