Preliminary Task- Costume Plan

Costume Plan and Analysis

My group and I decided that we would focus on the main characters' costumes from 'What time is it?' from High School Musical 2. This is because there are only 3 people in our group and so we couldn't possibly have 30 people in our replication, as this would take far too long and over complicate the aim of the prelim task.

 

The costumes that we decided on were for the main characters that appear in the music video:

 

-Troy

-Gabriella

-Sharpay

-Chad

-The teacher

 

As the setting is a college environment, the costumes we need to obtain are not too difficult. The majority of the characters chosen are wearing casual outfits, such as jeans and a basic t-shirt, however the style does vary from shot to shot. For example, Troy and Chad are wearing more casual outfits than Sharpay, who is presented as being much smarter and more aware of her appearance.

 

For Troy and Chad's character, Amy and Will are going to dress in casual clothing and match the colour t-shirts they are wearing, as best as they can.

Gabriella, to be played by Amy, is wearing a casual white top. Again, Amy will try to match this as best as she can.

Sharpay is much more dressed up than the other characters in the music video. It is obvious she tries to make more of an effort which is portrayed through her character. Therefore, I will try to match her outfit as best as I can by dressing up and wearing heavier make-up.

The teacher in this music video appears in more vibrant clothes. I will play this part and I will try to match this outfit by wearing a bright top and glasses, in attempt to match the look.

By analysing the outfits, we were able to think of the costumes and props we should bring into college on Thursday, ready to film our take on this music video.
